We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in sensor technologies, analog circuit design, wireless communication, embedded systems, and Edge AI hardware and applications. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and optimize innovative electronic systems and devices, integrating advanced sensors and analog components with low-power, wireless communication protocols. This role requires proficiency in embedded system development, including firmware programming, real-time processing, and hardware optimization. This engineer will develop Edge AI solutions that process data locally for efficiency and speed. The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop robust, scalable, and high-performance systems for applications in healthcare ensuring technical excellence from concept to deployment.
Designs and develops innovative biomedical engineering systems, solving complex challenges with creativity and practicality. Expert in applicable engineering disciplines and skilled in using engineering software and metrology. Leads technical projects while collaborating with managers and guiding team efforts and mentors staff. Evaluates new technologies and selects capital equipment. Understands and adheres to the Division's Quality Management System and safety risk management practices; has expertise in regulatory requirements. Has the ability to create engineering documentation, can communicate effectively across all levels of Mayo Clinic, and can represent the organization at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
BS in Engineering or related field with 10 years of related experience; Or MS in Engineering or related field with 8 years of related experience; Or PhD in Engineering or related field with 6 years of related experience. Minimum of 4 years’ experience leading technical project teams is required. Masters preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with electronic Computer Aided Design tools and modeling software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.Extensive experience with Edge AI hardware and applications, including local data processing and optimization.Proficiency in embedded systems development, including firmware programming, real-time processing, and hardware integration.Demonstrated expertise in sensor design and integration, analog circuit design, and low-power systems.In-depth knowledge of wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa) and their implementation.Proven experience with signal processing and hardware-software co-design for performance optimization.Comprehensive understanding of product development lifecycles, including prototyping, testing, and transitioning concepts into scalable solutions.Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, with a track record of working in multidisciplinary teams.Experience with healthcare technologies or regulated environments is a plus.Leadership experience in guiding and mentoring junior engineers, and leading technical projects to successful completion.Exemption Status
