Principal Business Applications Analyst

**Job Description**
As a Principal Business Applications Analyst, you will play a crucial role in delivering technical data support and innovative solutions for Actuarial data systems. Your expertise will be essential in identifying and addressing business requirements to enhance Actuarial financial data marts. You will conduct thorough analysis and rigorous testing to ensure the delivery of high-quality data and applications. Additionally, you will assist in preparing complex trend and financial data analyses to support various Plan divisions.
+ Develop complex decision support solutions including claims financial data builds, data extracts, reports, data mart tables, views and/or analysis.
+ Provide support for multiple data application areas, including data definitions, usage and file structure, technical structure of the SQL code, business rules, and requirements that governs the functionality of the data systems.
+ Assist in the development and design of data sets delivered thru the Actuarial data marts.
+ Identify best practices, communicate, and implement these practices within the department.
+ Support in analyzing applications, system problems and incidents; Develop recommendationsand solutions for those problems, implement those solutions, and provide communications on the associated actions, business impacts, and results.
+ Assist in managing the maintenance and optimization of the Actuarial Systems Data Marts.
+ Performs monthly data refreshes, validations, and quality assurance checks to support financial reporting.
+ Establishes interdepartmental and vendor relationships to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
+ Provides data content support and ensures all data issues are understood and proactively resolved (when possible).
+ Provide analytical and ad hoc support for departmental, divisional and corporate projects as needed to accomplish business goals and to ensure the business needs are met.
+ Perform unit testing; creating sample data sets to validate that SQL code/logic is developed to perform as intended.
**Hiring Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
+ 6+ Years of SQL Development/Analysis experience.
+ 6+ years of experience in related field.
+ In lieu of degree, 8+ years of experience in related field.
**Nice to Have:**
+ Experience with Medical claims, Pharmacy and/or medical rebate data.
+ Experience with Snowflake, AWS cloud environments.
+ Healthcare data analytics including experience with Government and Commercial lines of business.

**Salary Range**
At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.
