Are you ready to challenge the boundaries of what's possible? We're seeking a dynamic Principal Bridge Engineer to join our vibrant St Albans team, who will combine technical expertise with effective project and people management.

What can we offer?

We work for leading UK&I and international clients and have a wide range commissions of varying scale across all sectors. Some typical examples of current and recent past projects include: the design of new bridges for the M11 Junction 7a and redrafting of MCHW and DMRB standards for National Highways, CAFA Structural Assessments and Manchester Piccadilly P13/14 Congestion Relief for Network Rail, design of new underground stations for the Bakerloo Line Extension, and Post-Tensioned Special Inspections both in the office and on site for numerous local authorities and Network Rail.

Job Duties include:

Deliver: Lead and manage bridges and structures engineering projects, as well as input on the same to other projects, from Site Inspection and Investigation, through to design, construction and maintenance to produce high-quality deliverables.

Innovate: Apply cutting-edge approaches in bridge engineering including linear and non-linear structural analysis using LUSAS and MIDAS.

Communicating Expertise: Whether to clients or colleagues, the ability to communicate effectively through report writing, drawings and sketches is key to the role.

Lead: Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and development of junior team members.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.Chartered status (with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers) preferred.Commitment to working a minimum of 3 days per week in our St Albans Office.Good working knowledge of structural Eurocodes, National Highways (DMRB & MCHW), Network Rail and (preferably) London Underground standards.Leading fee bids and proposals for internal and external clients.Experience in Project Management and developing client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in overseeing project execution, delivering client satisfaction, through producing high-quality results on time and within budget.A sound understanding of typical design and construction costs for bridges and other transportation structures.Strong technical skills in bridge engineering and a keen commitment to quality with a ‘right first time’ approach to your own work, and taking ownership of the quality of deliverables produced by your team.Experience in the production of drawings, risk assessments, specifications and reporting; as well as interdisciplinary review on multi-discipline projects (through e.g. a good understanding of the key interfaces with road and rail).Willingness to travel occasionally to other offices and sites throughout the UK (typically limited to a few days per year).Current full driving licence.
