Amazon is seeking an industry proven and detail oriented Principal Supply Chain Manager to oversee Supplier Development Engineers and support supplier sourcing for our Material Handle Equipment (MHE) Automation program. Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, contract manufacturing, change management, and system supplier and/or technology sourcing. Our Senior Manager must be agile with the ability to quickly adapt strategies, plans and solutions in response to dynamic business requirements. They also must be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization. • Partner with Innovation & Design (I&D) team to explore new technologies to automate Amazon Logistics (AMZL) delivery stations’ stow and pick processes and lead the Supply Chain effort including Suppliers sourcing, selection, qualification, cost negotiation and delivery from technology development to pilot and future scaling.
• Develop the scaling strategy with cross functional teams inclusive of Business Development, Legal, Design, Advanced Robotics, etc. to develop options for sourcing and deploying automated stow and pick solutions across global last mile network
• Partner with I&D team to create a detailed requirements and roadmap document for the target technologies. Builds mechanisms and leads initiatives to ensure that suppliers’ costs meets or exceeds established payback goals. Constantly seeks ways to reduce spending and demonstrates the ability to advise business owners on whether a given purchase is reasonable and justified.
• Develop and implement Supply Chain strategy, works with cross-functional teams to ensure that strategies are executed, and effectively communicates in both written and verbal format to gain customer and supplier buy-in to drive them towards anticipated outcomes
• Determines which suppliers should be positioned for long-term contracts based on the suppliers’ overall qualification and value to the business and establishes and implements strategies for partnering with these suppliers
