What you will be doing 

To establish pricing practices within the Pharmacy Department and develop an analytical process to manage prices that will allow proper maintenance and price spreads in relation to competitors while maximizing gross margins and third-party reimbursements. The Manager of Pricing and Analytics will work closely with Pharmacy Operations, Pharmacy Procurement, Managed Care Operations, Analytics, and Finance teams to develop strategies to maximize profitability across Albertsons Safeway.  

The position’s preferred base is in Boise, ID but is open to our other corporate locations in Pleasanton, Plano & Phoenix. 

 

Main responsibilities  

The manager must have the ability to optimize the results of the company by balancing the need for increased sales with increased margins. The strategies developed must maximize profitability while ensuring that we remain competitively priced in order to retain market share. The ability to provide timely, accurate analysis of business data and make action recommendations to senior pharmacy management is essential for this role. In addition: 

Manage direct reports.  Develops overall pricing guidelines for the Pharmacy Department.  Manages pricing tiers and markets to ensure stores are properly assigned and moved as marketing needs change.  Gathers data from throughout the division and marketplace to be used in pricing decisions.  Manages price check process in accordance with established policies and applicable law.  Utilizes the Prescription Movement Mix Model to project margins for proposed pricing programs.  Conducts profitability analysis of stores/markets/regions on a by-product basis.  Responds to customer and store pricing inquiries.  Utilizes the IQVIA system to allow Albertsons to benchmark itself against other chains in areas such as market share, generic utilization and third-party penetration.  Interfaces Managed Care Operations and Pharmacy Procurement with Healthcare Systems  Abilities to run ad-hoc queries to support senior management.  Monitors all data requests to ensure they are in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.  Prepares reports for Pharmacy Professional Services Department utilizing confidential patient data.  Sets store generic conversion achievement goals and performance reporting.  Assists in the development of pharmacy inventory goals.  Prepares and responds to mandated State financial survey requests.  Perform weekly and periodic analytical and financial reporting.  Leverages financial and systems expertise to mentor and collaborate with others, both inside and outside of FP&A. Provides direction and leadership to resolve finance issues that fall within area of expertise. 

Identifies opportunities and risks from financial trends and presents findings to management 

The salary range is annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

What we are searching for  

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred.  Knowledge/Experience with PDX or other Pharmacy Dispensing System.  Advanced Microsoft Access, Excel, Word and relational database technology.  Intermediate SQL training required.  Excellent analytic skills required.  Solid written and verbal communication skills.  Prior experience (minimum 2 years) in pharmacy financial analysis.  Comprehension of third party, managed care and procurement practices.  Previous management experience preferred.  Pharmacy financial analyst experience preferred.  Power BI development skills: converting raw data, creating dashboards, DAX expressions, building data models, analyzing data sets, building reports and administration of the tool.  Experience writing dynamic SQL queries within a data warehouse environment 

 

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline is preferred (computer science, business, finance) but other disciplines or equivalent experience will be considered.   5+ years of experience in data analysis and business recommendations based on data findings.  Candidates with previous management experience are a plus, but not required.   Experience and advanced experience with Data Visualization tools required (Power BI, Tableau, or a similar tools).   Expertise in SQL is required.   Experience using JIRA for project management, or similar tool for backlog management.   Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications for ad hoc reporting and presentations, with advanced Excel for analytics knowledge.   Minimal travel required, 5% of time.
