Position Summary

A Pressperson is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the press and auxiliary equipment related to the press. The Pressperson will also direct the activities of the press crew with
assigned tasks during down time and make-ready periods.

 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Works under the plant litho manager to make sure all team members on press are properly and adequately trained to perform their essential functions in a safe, productive manner in
accordance with all established safety guidelines Make-ready and operate press based upon written instructions provided Insures each job is produced to customer specifications, meeting internal and external deadlines Verify that stock and inks match job specs on ticket Ensure all crew members understands job details for their areas of responsibility Read and understand job tickets for stock and color specifications Perform press make ready, folder set ups, maintain press register and color Perform quality pull sheet procedures according to Orora press SOP’s Ensure samples are pulled and labeled according to Orora press SOP Follow all safety policies and regulations, report any potential hazards, near misses or accidents immediately Perform routine maintenance on the press, making sure that that all equipment is properly maintained with the press team members as required Coordinate work schedules in the department with other team members Cooperate with other team members and managers to insure we maintain OV values while meeting our customer promises Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Education, Skills, Experience & Abilities:

High school diploma or equivalent Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Press Operator Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure Ability to work independently as well as with a crew/team Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed Ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment
 

This job operates in a production environment. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as Presses and forklifts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is
frequently required to stand; walk; sit; drive; and see.
