JOB SUMMARY
The Prescription Refill Nurse provides prescription related medication support to patients, including medication refill requests, automatic refills and prior authorization requests as ordered or directed by provider and /or department protocol. This individual provides coordination of services through face-to-face or phone communication. The Prescription Refill Nurse is required to make decisions consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s (MCHS) mission, policies, department protocol, and initiatives, with strict observance of patient confidentiality.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma.
Preferred/Optional: Associate degree in nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Customer service experience.Demonstrated proficiency with verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills. Must have a wide knowledge of colloquial and medical terminology. Demonstrated computer and telephone skills.
Preferred/Optional: Outpatient clinic experience in primary care or related field. Experience as a licensed practical nurse in related field.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Licensed Practical Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
