Early Childhood Certification Preferred (Multiple positions open) Starting wage $14.35/hrEARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER PARAEDUCATOR GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Any Paraeducator working in an Early Childhood Program Qualifications: + Previous experience working with preschool age children + High school diploma or equivalent + Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or equivalent college degree Reports To: Preschool teacher Consults With: Principal, preschool teachers, and other preschool teacher paraeducators Physical Requirements: Depends on the assignment Position Goal: To assist the preschool teacher in maintaining developmentally appropriate classroom activities and learning environment so that children of all ability levels (including special education) may learn effectively and reach their maximum potential. Performance Responsibilities: + Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning. + Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children. + Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children. + Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children. + Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary. + Helps maintain individual records for each child. + Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children. + Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas. + Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods with the main emphasis being health and safety at all times. + Collects and displays suitable material for learning centers. + Helps maintain the classroom learning environment. + Engages in positive and age appropriate adult-child social interactions. + Assists children with toileting and hand washing as needed. + Assists teacher with parent support activities. + Attends training/inservice opportunities as required. + Keeps information related to individual children and families confidential. + Serves as a resource person, if and when requested, to the child’s staffing team conferring about one of the students to whom assigned. + Support the Guidelines for Success used at Northeast for common areas. Performs other duties as assigned. Terms of Employment: Days students are in school. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
