Posting Description
POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR, IMPLOSION FABRICATION MATERIAL SCIENCE, McGovern Institute for Brain Research/Biological Engineering – Synthetic Neurobiology/Boyden Lab and So Lab, to join a team focusing on developing a new nanofabrication technology, implosion fabrication; develop material science strategies that support the creation of nanoprecise multi material devices, such as optical metamaterials and green chemistry nanoreactors; optimize the chemistry of the hydrogel and the photopatterned materials, and then design, fabricate, and validate devices using that chemistry; and analyze data, documenting and managing protocols, helping prepare manuscripts and grants, and recognizing problems or situations that are new and troubleshooting, inventing, or finding solutions. The project will use polymer chemistry and hydrogel materials, to photopatterned nanomaterials throughout, and finally, via shrinking, to bring them closer together, resulting in nanoprecise devices. Devices to be made include3D topological and/or multi-material nanostructures for optical computing. Validation of devices will be performed with nanoimaging methods like scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
