General Statement PhD in a relevant field, experience with data science, remote sensing, modeling, and strong capabilities in R and/or Python are required. Additionally, previous experience using remote sensing to evaluate vegetation in Arctic and boreal systems is highly desirable.

Compensation includes a 6-month salary ($32,500), fringe ($12,025), computing ($2,500), and travel ($1500) support. Start date is as soon as possible with potential to extend beyond 6 months depending on future funding. The research associate will be involved in data analysis, manuscript preparation, proposal development, and will have considerable opportunity for professional development. Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate vegetation trajectory Data analysis Manuscript preparation Proposal development Data scientist – using R and Python Using remote sensing to evaluating vegetation Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Ph.D. in remote sensing, hydrology, or a closely related field. Evidence of strong communication skills including a publication record of peer-reviewed journal articles. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Record of conducting innovative remote sensing research on vegetation dynamics in Arctic and boreal ecosystems. Potential to write grant proposals and secure funding. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
