For more information, please visit our website: https:// cyclo tron.tamu.edu/ What We Want The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for developing and performing simulations of stellar nuclear reactions under the direction of the line manager in support of the experimental nuclear astrophysics research at the Cyclotron Institute. The selected candidate will also help to identify high-priority experimental and theoretical studies to be performed at the Cyclotron Institute and other laboratories. What You Need to Know + Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience. + Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance. Required Education + Appropriate PhD Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships Preferred Qualifications + PhD in nuclear astrophysics or stellar astrophysics with a focus on the modelling of astrophysical object or systems + Experience developing and running codes for simulating astrophysical nuclear reactions and in evaluation of thermonuclear reaction rates + Experience working with graduate and undergraduate students + Willingness to take on advisory roles for graduate and undergraduate students Responsibilities + Cyclotron Institute Nuclear Astrophysics: Works to exploit the results of experimental and theoretical studies at the Cyclotron Institute in stellar models. + Identification of important Experimental and Theoretical Projects: Identifies important nuclear-physics uncertainties for stellar models and, with local experimental and theoretical faculty and researchers, designs future studies to reduce those uncertainties.
