Postdoctoral Fellow - Department of Neurology
*The Department of Neurology, Epilepsy Division *at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified postdoctoral fellow for research focusing on the molecular and cellular mechanisms causing malformations of brain development associated with epilepsy and autism. Specifically, we are interested in new gene discovery, establishing in vitro and in vivo models, and designing new approaches for possible therapies. The emphasis of the lab is on the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway and its role in development of the cerebral cortex. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in CRISPR design, mouse models systems, cell signaling assays such as Western and kinase assays, and genomic analysis of human brain tissue specimens. Specifically, the applicant should have experience and skills in Western assay, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), recombinant DNA manipulation, CRISPR, cell transfection, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence microscopy. Experience with transgenic and knockout mouse systems is desirable.
