Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $68,811.60 - $75,010.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

Job Description: Postdoctoral Fellow – Dr. Franck Barrat Lab

Department/Service: Research Institute

Summary:

A post-doctoral research position is available in the group of Dr. Barrat at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Institute as part of the Inflammation and Autoimmunity Program. The ideal candidate for this position has background in immunology and is interested in studies involving innate immunity in the context of human diseases. Experience with mouse models is desirable as well as excellent technical capabilities with primary cell cultures and/or strong expertise in molecular biology.

The HSS Institute is part of the “research miles” in New York and specializes in research in rheumatology and orthopedic. HSS is affiliated with and attached to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University with whom HSS shares many Core Facilities.

Responsibilities:

The fellow will be responsible for working in conjunction with Dr. Barrat to develop and carry out projects related to the better understanding of rheumatic diseases that should result in peer-reviewed publications. The ideal candidate will independently design and perform experiments that will utilize molecular, cellular and genetic techniques as well as mouse models to answer questions about how innate inflammation regulates fibrosis and wound healing in various in vitro and in vivo models.

The postdoc fellow will also have responsibilities for training new or current lab members and colleagues and for working with other lab members to maintain lab function. The candidate will present at lab meetings and represent the lab at other local, national, and international forums, draft manuscripts for publications, and contribute to obtaining data for grant applications.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree, a background in cellular and molecular biology as well as some understanding of the field of immunometabolism, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently. This position provides opportunities for individuals interested in developing strong translational research experience. High level of motivation and independence and the ability to think critically are expected. PhD candidates expected to graduate soon are also encouraged to apply.
