Recruitment/Posting Title Post Doctoral Associate (Zhao - June 2022) Department SEBS - FHS Salary Commensurate With Experience Posting Summary The Zhao laboratory studies how nutrition modulates the gut microbiota and affects human health. The immediate goal of this IFNH seed grant-sponsored research program is to study how a prebiotic formula with Investigational New Drug Status modulate the gut microbiota and improve symptoms in acute phase COVID-19 patients. The forward-looking part of the project will rely on gnotobiotic animal models and an ex-vivo system to study carbon flow network when human gut microbiota interacts with carbohydrates.The position offers the opportunity to gain research experience in the areas of nutritional science, data generation from ex vivo systems, gnotobiotic animal models and human clinical trials via metagenomics, metaproteomic, and metabolomic approaches, and multi-omics-based microbiome analysis. Additionally, the postdoc will have opportunities to interact with the multi-disciplinary environment of the Center for Nutrition, Microbiome and Health, the Rutgers Center for Microbiome Analysis at IFNH as well as various Departments at the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and Rutgers Medical Schools.
