The Department of Public Health Sciences is currently seeking a full time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                                                                                                         

Develops and implements advanced computational and machine learning methods for the analysis of large-scale omics data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenomics.

Designs and develops innovative bioinformatics software and statistical tools for analyzing single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics data.

Conducts computational analyses to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets using multi-omics data integration.

Develops and applies machine learning models for predictive analytics in biomedical research.

Maintains and optimizes computational clusters and cloud computing environments to support large-scale data analysis.

Publishes in refereed journals in collaboration with the principal investigator, program director, or independently within the scope of his/her responsibilities in the programs of the principal investigator or program director.

Contributes to basic and applied research activities, including authorship of scientific publications, technical and agency reports, or patent preparation.

Writes extramural proposals with the approval of the principal investigator/program director and the dean/designee as necessary.

Supervises Research employees and/or non-exempt staff as needed.

Department Specific Functions

Develop and disseminate innovative statistical and bioinformatics software for genomics and epigenomics research. Develop machine learning models and advanced analytical tools for predictive analytics. Conduct high-dimensional statistical analyses and integrate multi-omics data for biomarker discovery and disease subtype clustering. Pre-process, analyze and communicate results for large-scale omics datasets using state-of-the-art bioinformatics software. Maintain and optimize computational clusters and cloud computing environments to ensure efficient data processing and storage. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance computational research in cancer genomics and other biomedical fields. Participate in the development of computational infrastructure and pipelines for high-throughput data analysis.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                                                                                                         

Education:

Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field

Experience:

No prior experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Expertise in statistical analyses, machine learning, and high-dimensional data analysis.

Strong programming skills in R, Python; experience with Linux/Unix systems.

Proficiency in bioinformatics analyses, including the integration of multi-omics data.

Familiarity with advanced statistical theories, survival analysis, and design of clinical trials.

Knowledge of neural networks and deep learning methodologies for biomedical data science.

Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and maintaining computational clusters.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to work well in a team environment.
