**THE OPPORTUNITY**
Join Boehringer Ingelheim, one of the world leaders in Veterinary Health, as a Bioprocess Expert. Contribute to the development of next-generation vaccines for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and other critical livestock diseases. This role is pivotal in advancing innovative vaccine solutions, ensuring the health and livelihoods of farmers worldwide.
This position is based in Lelystad and reports directly to the Bioprocess Development Leader.

**YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
• Research & Development: Designing and executing bench work using state-of-the-art bioprocess equipment, upstream as well as downstream (e.g., AMBR250/15, AKTA purifier, UF/DF).
• Protocol Development: Prepare and plan laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards (GLP, GSP) and intellectual property regulations.
• Process Optimization: Develop and scale up upstream (USP) and downstream (DSP) processes, balancing process optimization, immunogenicity, and cost of goods (COGs).
• Technical Expertise: Provide deep knowledge in mammalian cell technologies and downstream processing, if possible, formulation, and analytics (Biochemical analysis of protein (sds=page, ELISA, physiochemical analysis (CD, particle size) ).
• Collaboration & Communication: Effectively interact with R&D labs within and outside Boehringer Ingelheim, participating in technical team meetings and giving seminars.
• Innovation: Identify and develop new methods and technologies, writing protocols, SOPs, and contributing to publications and reports.
• Compliance & Maintenance: Ensure the correct use and maintenance of equipment, designing and implementing new protocols as needed.
**WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TEAM**
• Educational Background: PhD in Bioprocess Technology or a comparable educational level.
• Experience: 5+ years in an R&D laboratory, preferably in the industry.
• Language Skills: Fluent in Dutch and English.
• Technical Knowledge:
+ USP: Understanding of bioreactors, seed trains, main culture, and harvest processes for therapeutic proteins using mammalian cell systems.
+ DSP: Familiarity with purification techniques such as chromatography, capture, polishing, and filling processes.
+ Analytical: Deep knowledge of bioanalytical tools for process and product characterization.
• Skills:
+ Biomanufacturing: Experience in process optimization.
+ Software Proficiency: Good knowledge of standard software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Analytical Capability: Strong analytical skills.
+ Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, high initiative, commitment, persistence, autonomy, flexibility, quality-focused, reliable, and a strong team player.
