Ports and Maritime – Adaptation and Efficiency Lead
We are seeking a qualified, multidisciplinary, and motivated individual for this new Ports & Maritime (P&M) role based in the US Northwest region. This role is central to all adaptation and efficiency initiatives within the Ports & Maritime group and parallel markets, focusing on enhancing operational sustainability and competitiveness. As a key member of the team, this person will have the opportunity to develop a new division for adaptation and efficiency in the P&M Northwest team, enhancing project offerings for clients, and identifying opportunities for business development with existing and new clients. You will be involved in project delivery, development, and growth of our P&M client base, engage in sales processes, provide technical input into projects, mentor junior and mid-level staff, and support operations with delivery and performance to grow our P&M business. Key components of this role include: (i) Technical and Strategic Support: Efficiently adapting to changing operations, business, and regulatory conditions through technical and strategy advisory. (ii) Creating Efficiencies: Optimizing business operations and increasing competitiveness while tackling environmental challenges. (iii) Innovation Management: Application of innovative technologies to optimize and adapt associated project and business operations. As a senior member of our Ports team, you will be directly reporting to the US West Ports and Maritime Director. You will support managing our prospect portfolio, sales, and business development activities to deliver sustainable growth, support strategic positioning for specific opportunities, lead the delivery of projects, and provide appropriate guidance and mentorship to help develop less experienced team members. You will coordinate project resources and plan tasks and will contribute to our business goals. Primary Job Responsibilities: * Project delivery within a multi-disciplinary and multi-geographic environment. * Inter-discipline and inter-office project planning, delivery, and financial performance. * Technical leadership and quality management of project deliverables. * Technical and professional leadership, support, and development of the team. * Support business development and sales activities, including products and solutions for the Ports and Maritime group. * Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems. * Recruitment and team development; communication with clients and other design team members. * Support sales activity to deliver sustainable growth including preparation of proposals. * Support strategic positioning for specific opportunities, including sales opportunities and own process and data for pursuits. * Support client pursuits managing the technical sustainability-related inputs into bids, developing distinctive value propositions and win plans that and ensuring bid documents are consistent with these. * Develop high-quality opportunity-specific response documents with competitive and compelling sales messages to satisfy client business goals. * At least 7 years of international experience in multi-disciplinary roles within sectors such as sustainability and environmental management, stakeholder engagement and project management * Relevant Bachelors and Master’s Degree in an Environmental related discipline. Additional Professional Certifications in Coastal Adaption and Resilience considered a bonus. * Understanding of the port and terminal market, operations and trends, including energy transition, resiliency and sustainable solutions. * Proven experience managing projects, leading multidisciplinary and multicultural teams. * Strong technical experience within sustainability sectors including GHG management, Natural Capital, and Circular Economy principles. * Proven experience working within teams within fast-paced environment. * Familiar with the development and commercialization of products and services, and comfortable selling these products and services to our clients. * Ability and willingness to network throughout the Jacobs organization, nationally and internationally, to deliver the best results for our clients, our staff, and our projects, * Strong organizational, management and research skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time. * Good commercial, financial and process understanding. * Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication, and report writing skills * Strong attention to detail and an ability to establish and meet deadlines/budgets. * Good interpersonal and organizational skills to lead meetings, facilitate and build relationships across operational and sales teams * The ability to travel within the US and internationally. Additional experience in: * Developing Net Zero strategies for Ports & Maritime, including conducting GHG inventories, quantification of decarbonization solutions and development of implementation plans. * Performing GHG Life Cycle Analysis for construction projects to guide optioneering decisions during the design phase * Change management and implementation of new digital solutions, products and processes. Preferably when developing new processes for analysing infrastructure projects. * Assessing opportunities for economic benefits from carbon offsetting, carbon credits, biodiversity net gain, emissions trading schemes and other ‘environmental or nature market solutions’ * Conducting workshops (both online and virtual) to educate clients and stakeholders on technical information, successfully upskill the workforce, and implement new solutions or principles.
