STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Essential Functions

A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the clinical director (MD, DO, or PhD) or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.  This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education.  A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide supervision of other staff. Care is delivered within the framework of the Mission and Philosophy of the Health Center, which directs are relationships with patients, visitors and fellow employees and recognizes that healing is best accomplished when we meet the needs of body, mind and spirit. A critical attribute required of this position is exceptional interpersonal customer services consisting of an outgoing positive attitude, warm friendly joyful demeanor, and the utmost care and respect for our guests, patients, families, customers and colleagues.

EDUCATIONEducation: High School diploma, AA or AS degree preferred.Population Specifics: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population served in Sleep lab.Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Polysomnographic Trainee with documented proficiency in all required        Required Certification: Certified by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as a Registered Polysomnographic       Technologist or registry eligible. Current BLS certification.Other: Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred.  Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.  Ability to                                              work with culturally diverse population.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES

Gather and Analyzes Patient Information.Demonstrate knowledge of testing preparation procedures.Follow Polysomnographic Procedures.Perform Polysomnographic record scoring.Maintain a high standard of excellence and professionalism in job responsibilities.Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and specific needs of patients served.

LOURDES HEALTH REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIESIs responsible for becoming knowledgeable and compliant with Department, Hospital, Fire/Safety/Disaster, Educational requirements and Personnel Policies.Follow the Corporate Compliance Program and maintains confidentiality standard.Demonstrate support and adherence to the Mission and Values Statement of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet as an agent of Lourdes Health Network.Participate and support the Continuous Quality Improvement process and provides optimum customer service.Is responsible for development and implementation of self-management skills.Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
