Policy Research Intern, Geopolitical AI and Cloud - Summer 2025

Our work at NVIDIA is dedicated to building technology and capabilities to further what's possible with AI. For two decades, NVIDIA has pioneered visual computing, with the invention of the GPU. The GPU has also shown to be very effective at solving some of the most sophisticated problems in computer science. Today, NVIDIA’s GPU simulates human intelligence, runs deep learning algorithms, and acts as the brain of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can perceive and understand the world. To push the boundaries of what's possible, we are looking to grow our company and teams with the smartest people in the world and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.

For this specific role, we are seeking an outstanding PhD intern to drive a forward-looking research initiative at the intersection of sophisticated AI technologies, global data regulations, and international strategic interests. You will develop white papers, policy briefs, and scenario analyses to guide strategic corporate decisions in deploying AI-cloud services worldwide. The goal is to anticipate how national-level data privacy laws, legal frameworks, and evolving geopolitical climates might impact the training and operation of AI-cloud offerings and foundational AI models across key regions. Are you interested in joining us?

What you'll be doing:

Map how shifting data privacy laws, sovereignty concerns, and Artificial Intelligence governance frameworks in the US, Europe, China, Japan, India, Israel, and Southeast Asia may influence AI-cloud services and deployments.

Develop contingency models, whitepapers, policy briefs, and slide decks outlining shifts in regulation and their implications for AI-cloud operations.

Assess the feasibility of various AI-cloud service offerings within diverse regulatory regimes; recommending standard processes to minimize current-and-future compliance risk while enabling customers to compete with SOTA AI model development efforts worldwide.

Translate sophisticated international developments and geopolitical trends into concrete technical and business implications, enabling informed decision-making on investments and strategic partnerships.

Develop a thorough white paper detailing key findings, supported by focused policy briefs and strategic slide decks.

Produce contingency modeling artifacts that highlight potential events and their projected implications for the company.

What we need to see:

Currently pursuing a PhD degree in a related field (e.g. Political Science, International Law, Economics, or Computer Science) with a research focus on data policy and regulations for AI.

Familiarity with frameworks governing data, Artificial Intelligence sovereignty, and cybersecurity.

Skilled at synthesizing sophisticated legal and political developments into strategy recommendations.

Comfortable with scenario planning, forecasting, and presenting multifaceted strategies to partners.

Capable of blending technical and geopolitical foresight to advise on strategic decision-making.

The hourly rate for our interns is 30 USD - 90 USD. Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.

You will also be eligible for Intern benefits. NVIDIA accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
