Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, is responsible for a wide range of clerical duties involving the receipt of subpoenas and the scheduling of San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) personnel of court appearances. Serves as an important link between the SAPD and the District Attorney's Office in pursuit of an effective and efficient use of human and fiscal resources. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. Exercises no supervision.

Essential Job Functions
+ Receives District, County, and other criminal subpoenas and routes to appropriate location for distribution; verifies and corrects unit designation on all subpoenas prior to distribution.
+ Communicates with and obtains the cooperation of SAPD personnel requested for court appearances.
+ Coordinates Department member appearances, based on availability, with the staff of the District Attorney's Office.
+ Notifies SAPD personnel of all subpoenas and Notices to Appear/Standby, ensuring no undue delay in any court proceeding.
+ Maintains logs to effectively track and verify court appearances; issues overtime cards to off-duty SAPD personnel appearing for court related cases.
+ Prepares reports in a timely manner.
+ Responds to all inquiries and requests for information.
+ Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
+ One (1) year experience in general clerical work.
+ Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor convictions, an Open Arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and family violence convictions.

+ Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
+ Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks. If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of court processes to include subpoena, citation and summon service.
+ Knowledge of basic legal terminology.
+ Knowledge of modern office procedures, business letter writing, report preparation, and proper telephone etiquette.
+ Knowledge of basic mathematical principles and methods.
+ Knowledge of principles and procedures of record keeping and filing.
+ Knowledge of Police Department rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
+ Skill in efficiently and effectively coordinating court appearances.
+ Skill in utilizing personal computers and associated software applications in the completion of assignments.
+ Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
+ Ability to compile and prepare clear and concise reports.
+ Ability to compile, organize, and maintain accurate and complete records.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and general public.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
