We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Engineer to develop standards for plumbing and fire protection design documents, including drawings, sprinkler design criteria specifications, preliminary hydraulic calculations, fire pump selection, and code analysis. The successful candidate will conduct field surveys of existing conditions, assist the construction administration department in reviewing plumbing and fire protection system installations, and review architectural and engineering drawings for conformance with model and local codes, as well as NFPA standards. Additionally, you will research model and local codes and nationally recognized standards to support project code compliance. You will design plumbing systems and fire protection systems and attend project team meetings throughout the design process to coordinate space requirements for plumbing and fire protection equipment and distribution routing for these systems.
Responsibilities
+ Develop standards for plumbing and fire protection design documents, including drawings, sprinkler design criteria specifications, preliminary hydraulic calculations, fire pump selection, and code analysis.
+ Conduct field surveys of existing conditions and assist the construction administration department in reviewing plumbing and fire protection system installations.
+ Review architectural and engineering drawings for conformance with model and local codes, as well as NFPA standards.
+ Research model and local codes, as well as nationally recognized standards to support project code compliance.
+ Design plumbing systems such as central domestic water heating plants, backflow preventers, medical gas, and fire protection systems like NFPA 13, fire pumps, hydraulic calculations.
+ Attend project team meetings with Architects, Engineers, Construction Managers, Owners, etc., throughout the design process to coordinate space requirements and distribution routing for plumbing and fire protection systems.
Essential Skills
+ 10-15 years of experience in a similar role within an engineering or related environment.
+ Knowledge of the design of plumbing and fire protection systems.
+ Familiarity with Autodesk REVIT MEP, AutoCAD MEP, and Microsoft Office.
+ Ability to manage projects.
+ Professional Engineer certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with hydraulic design and piping design.
Work Environment
This position requires in-office work three days one week and four days the next week. Our firm specializes in the design of building systems for commercial and institutional projects, delivering innovative and sustainable design solutions to diverse clients. We have a diverse portfolio including academic, commercial, cultural, healthcare, historic, municipal, residential, and sustainable projects.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
