The Opportunity:

Working As a PLC Technician, you'll be at the heart of our automated processes, ensuring that our programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation systems are running smoothly. You'll troubleshoot, maintain, and program PLC systems to keep our production line operating at peak performance. This role is a full-time permanent position working Monday-Friday with occasional weekends.

 

What you will do as a PLC Tech:

Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs to optimize production processes. Perform regular maintenance and updates on PLC systems and related equipment. Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, sensors, and other automation components to minimize downtime. Assist with the installation and commissioning of new automation equipment and systems. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Maintain accurate records of all programming changes, maintenance activities, and system updates. Work closely with electricians, mechanics, and production staff to ensure seamless operations and address any automation-related issues.

 

Experience and skills that will help you stand out:

At least 3 years of experience as a PLC Technician or in a similar role, preferably in a sawmill or industrial setting. An associate degree or technical certification in electronics, automation, or a related field. Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and familiarity with PLC hardware from manufacturers like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to think on your feet. Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate programming and system integrity. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including climbing, lifting, and working in various weather conditions. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
