Purpose and Mission Responsible for ensuring safety, health, and environmental compliance as well as information security risk management at plant/site level. Key Activities and Responsibilities
• SHE Program Management:
- Implement SHE policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Act as the custodian of the risk management process ensuring it is efficient and effective.
- Ensure those responsible for conducting risk assessments have received appropriate training and are competent.
- Routinely review risk assessments for quality.
- Routinely take part in performing risk assessments and identifying mitigation measures.
- Report results of risk assessments to the leadership team and advise on prioritisation of mitigation measures.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records of incidents, inspections, and training.
• Training and Development:
- Develop SHE training programs for employees and contractors.
- Responsible for delivering relevant SHE training to ensure employees, including management, can discharge their responsibilities effectively.
- Ensure all personnel are aware of SHE policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in SHE practices.
• Emergency & Incident Response:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Coordinate emergency drills and training exercises.
- Act as the primary contact for guidance and advice on emergency situations.
- Act as the custodian of the incident management process, including record retention, ensuring it is efficient and effective.
- Ensure those responsible for responding to emegrencies and conducting incident investigations have received appropriate training and are competent.
- Routinely review incident investigations for quality.
- Routinely take part in incidents investigations, and identifying corrective measures.
• Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit SHE reports to regulatory agencies and company management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date SHE records.
- Track and report on SHE performance metrics.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote SHE initiatives.
- Actively represent the company in SHE-related meetings and forums.
- Communicate SHE performance and initiatives to employees and management
• Proficiency in safety protocols, risk & incident/emergency management.
• Ability to guide teams toward safety goals.
• Strong verbal and written skills for safety reporting.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, ISO standards, and best practices.
• Fluent in English
• Proven tangible track record of fostering positive change, both in processes/equipment and culture.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in SHE management roles preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with environmental permits, licenses, and monitoring requirements.
• Experience in incident investigation, incident/emergency response, data analysis, and contractor safety oversight.
• Bachelor’s or Master degree in a relevant field (prefarable Environmental Engineering)
• Professional certification required (e.g. CSE, OSHA, NEBOSH, CSP, Preventie adviseur level 1 of 2, ASSP, or other local equivalent)
• ISO14001 & 45001 Internal Auditor Certificate
• At least Class B Occupational Safety Specialist Certificate
• Environmental Officer Certificate
