Your OpportunityOur Edmonton office has an opportunity for a Planning Technologist to join our Urban Planning team within our Alberta North Community Development practice. We are seeking a Planning Technician who enjoys complex project delivery, working with multidisciplinary teams, helping to drive project outcomes, and has an eagerness to learn.
Your focus in this role will be working alongside our planning team in the preparation of supporting information, maps, and statistics, for Planning applications, which could include Area Structure Plans, Neighbourhood Structure Plans, Rezonings, Subdivisions and various other community development applications. Our Alberta North Urban Planning team totals thirteen staff which provides for a close working environment to assist you in your professional development.
Your Key Responsibilities: Preparation of plans, supporting figures, and graphics using AutoCAD and other design software. Data management, statistical analysis, and other technical support tasks. Researching and compiling information on a variety of planning issues. Communicating and collaborating with other multi-disciplinary team members on relevant aspects of projects. Your Capabilities and Credentials: Knowledge and experience of planning terminology, practices, procedures, standards and work methods in the Edmonton metropolitan region and central Alberta. Exhibits a high standard of quality, accuracy and attention to detail in design work. Ability to multi-task within specific time constraints. Excellent communication both written and oral, along with strong problem-solving skills. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and GIS would be considered an asset. Education and Experience: A Technical Diploma in Planning from a recognized Institute of Technology or College. Minimum of 1 year experience. A strong understanding of a current version of AutoCAD/Civil 3D design software and Microsoft Office suite. Additional experience or knowledge of ArcGIS, 3D Studio, Rhino, Sketchup, etc. would be considered an asset.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
