Job Description: Summary Provides Planning and logistical advice and consults with leadership team to set short-term, long term direction and operating plans for 3M India Planning and Logistics team in alignment with area and Global plans. Determines directions, priorities and assigns resources with full accountability for results of functional area. Responsible for establishing and managing budgets for one or more departments within a functional discipline such as Demand, supply and production/materials planning, warehousing, transportation, inventory/materials control, import/export etc. Implements action plans to ensure adequate level of inventory and Service. Demand Planning: Gathers and applies business insights that influence and impact demand plans to improve demand plan accuracy. Provides guidance on new product forecasts and launch plans. Seeks continuous improvement on demand planning through benchmarking internal and external best practices. Assists the business by identifying external influences that will significantly impact demand plans. Supply Planning: Works cross-functionally to optimize information accuracy and flow to positively impact service, cost and inventory. Creates and influences inventory deployment strategy in alignment with the source of supply strategy. Provides leadership to expedited response plans for complex unexpected events or interruptions to optimize service. Drives change management opportunities within the organization to reduce supply interruptions. Inventory Management: Implements an inventory management strategy to optimize inventory levels across multiple points (e.g., plant and DC, etc.) . Develops a Lean material management strategy across a facility or operation. Coaches and mentors others on inventory management techniques Qualification and Exp: Education : Graduate Engineer from reputed college with a MBA in supply chain operations ( Preferred ) Experience : Over 20 Years in the field of Supply Chain. Manufacturing experience will be an added advantage. Scheduling: Optimizes Supply Chain production flow using the most appropriate tools to drive business results. Leads cross-functional collaboration efforts to establish priorities when there are gaps in production and operating plans. Analyzes supply chain parameters impact on the attainment of customer and business requirements. Coaches and mentors others on Lean principles to sustain a Lean culture across the organization. Develops and maintains strategic size and placement of inventory buffers across the value stream. Examines gaps in the supply chain metric data and collaborates with extended internal sources to address the gaps. Evaluates capacity and material flow versus customer requirements to modify and optimize material flow. Designs capacity models for new and existing work centers and material flows. Coaches and mentors others on the supply chain components. Knowledge of Data sources and systems: Utilizes supply chain-related IT systems and data components to perform basic analytical activities. Establish rigor of sales and operations planning (S&OP) reporting for critical business decisions SKU life cycle management: Influences SKU rationalization with business teams (end of product life cycle) based on under-performing SKUs. Evaluates and escalates proposals for non-performing SKU management that minimizes inventory and service risks. Manage Distribution network: Designs solutions to improve performance of complex product distribution networks .Influences stakeholders on product distribution solutions to achieve consensus on optimal implementation path. Coaches and mentors others on enhancing product distribution management capabilities . Utilizes benchmark data to identify needed adjustments to current product distribution performance and Drives and collaborates with internal / external distribution providers to identify and implement areas of improvements. Warehousing: Building strategic plans and longer range organizational designs to optimize warehousing and distribution operations. Evaluates emerging business needs to optimize warehousing and distribution design. Drives cost, service, and quality improvements across the warehousing and distribution network Transportation and regulatory: Evaluates processes and adjusts as needed to meet regulatory and customer requirements (e.g., sustainability) .Analyzes and selects appropriate transportation mode and distribution method for regional product movements in an optimal way. People: Direct the hiring, training, supervision, mentoring, and performance evaluations of staff. Direct, coordinate, assign, monitor and review the work of individuals engaged in related duties.
