Piping Model Coordinator - SmartPlant S3D - Role and Responsibilities:


Air Products, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Piping Model Coordinator in our Houston Office. This position reports to the Regional Piping & Layout Manager and is primarily responsible for developing safe, fit-for-purpose project deliverables according to project schedule and budget. 

Scope of Responsibilities include:

Software

●    Interface with IT to Setup SmartPlant S3D plant and maintain models

●    Develop model guidelines for design reuse strategies and products

●    Setup S3D plants and maintain models.

●    Develop design reuse strategies and products

●    Clash management and design review support

●    Coordinate with DT to create model database size and hierarchy setup.

●    Manage and run all S3D reports.

●    Create, control, and distribute project-specific modeling instructions

●    Manage and run all S3D reports for all engineering disciplines

●    Check model attributes and send reports to team members for action

●    Liaison to 3rd parties for model related inquires

●    Interface with vendors for file sharing.

●    Primary project liaison interfacing with DT and Automation

●    Liaison with all functional leads interfacing with the model

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

Strong written and spoken English communication skills, particularly regarding technical terminology related to piping.

●    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word)

●    BlueBeam and/or Adobe commenting tools for redlining drawings

●    Familiarity with global engineering organizations with respect to functions and interactions between different disciplines and support groups is preferred

●    Experience in piping (and pipe stress preferred)

●    Experience with drafting tools (AutoCAD, Microstation, Smart3D, etc.)

●    Experience using Smart3D to model equipment and piping

●    Experience with SmartReview

●    Working knowledge of valves, in-line devices and typical support details 

●    Open to continuous improvement with a passion for continuous development and learning

Leadership

●    Drive to competitive, under budget performance. Identify variations, scope changes or unbudgeted work

●    Develop design reuse strategies and products

Highly motivated and able to work independently and efficiently in a fluid environment with competing priorities

Communication/Organization

●    Interface with other functional groups to gather information needed to produce a comprehensive and constructible design package, relay schedule issues and ensure smooth handover to Construction team

●    Provide technical support to Piping team as needed

Safety and Standards

●    Adhere to all Air Products' safety requirements, including specifications and standards related to piping design

●    Review and validate current procedures

Travel

●    Travel up to 20%

Education and Licensing Requirements:

●    A 2-year Associates Degree is preferred

●    15 years of relevant work experience
