Role and Responsibilities:

 

We are seeking a Pipeline Technician with Instrument, Electrical and Operations experience for our Gulf Coast Pipeline Operations Team. You will work both independently and with a team and uphold the highest ethical standards, consistently prioritize safety in words and actions to protect self, others, and the environment.

Overall, Air Products’ Gulf Coast hydrogen system is the world’s largest plant and pipeline network and provides over 1.4 billion standard cubic feet of hydrogen per day to refinery and petrochemicals customers. The 600-mile pipeline, which is fed by 22 Air Products’ hydrogen production facilities, stretches from the Houston Ship Channel in Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana.

 

Duties include:

 

·       Read and understand P&ID's, pipeline alignment sheets, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.

·       Repair and troubleshoot analog and digital instrument loops.

·       Understand 4-20 m/a, and 1-5v loops and Hart communications.

·       Understand flow measurement - differential pressure and mass flow.

·       Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including pneumatic calibrators, Instrument calibrators, dead weight testers, multi-meters, multi-function calibrators and laptops for equipment communication.

·       Follow precise step by step calibration and SWIM procedures.

·       Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data.

·       Work with and troubleshoot the following: pressure, temperature and flow measuring equipment, solenoids, limit & proximity switches, valve positioners, I/Ps, control relay circuits, and control valves.

·       Pipeline location, leak detection, cathodic protection equipment.

·       Understand and follow the PHMSA 192 and 195 Pipeline Code of Federal Regulations.

·       Understand and enforce the Air Products damage prevention program.

·       Understand and comply with the Air Products Operators Qualification program.

·       Manage contractors for various maintenance issues and project management.

 

Working hours for this role are Mon-Fri / day shift with daily travel to customer sites and limited overnight travel as needed. This role will share on call duties with other technicians.

 

Required Skills / Abilities:

 

·       Fabrication, wiring and hook up experience of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment.

·       Detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately.

·       Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.

·       Familiar with PLC's & PLC logic - Bristol Babcock a plus but not required.

·       Experience with voltage switching equipment a plus but not required.

·       Strong personal safety philosophy.

·       Personal and professional integrity.

·       Must be team oriented and have a willingness to learn and further develop technical skills.

·       Must be willing to take on call during nights and weekends.

·       SAP experience is a plus but not required.

·       Clean driving record.

 

Education and Licensing Requirements:

 

·       High school diploma/GED required.

·       Trade School or Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field.

·       Military service in a related field a plus but not required (Aviation Electrician, Electronics Technician, Gas Turbine Technician, etc.).

·       5 years of Industrial experience with Instrumentation, Electrical and Operational experience, or equivalent.
