Position Summary

Provides clinical leadership and oversight of the medical specialty within the Medical Specialties division of Mary Bridge, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with medical guidelines. This position collaborates with physicians, APPs, nurses, and administrative teams to optimize patient care, drive clinical quality improvement and manage departmental performance. This individual is a content expert in developing and implementing strategic initiatives, while balancing clinical duties with leadership responsibilities for Medical Specialties.

Essential Functions

Clinical oversight: Ensures the quality of patient care and adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols as well as ensuring there is 24/7 hospital coverage in accordance with the bylaws.Performance Management: Provides guidance and support to physicians and APPs, mentorship to new physicians/APPs, and promotes a culture of collaboration and excellence. Evaluates and manages the performance of physicians/APPs, addressing issues of productivity, patient satisfaction, and professional development.  Addresses HeROs submitted with physician/APP concerns and support improvement and accountability.Quality Improvement: Plays a key role in quality improvement, clinical documentation integrity, and utilization management activities. Actively participates in process improvement initiativesAssists as needed with the resolution of patient care problems such as, but without limitation, patient access to care, emergencies and professional medical disputes involving patient care. Drives initiatives to support top decile patient satisfaction.Actively participates in the development, maintenance, and period reviews of clinical guidelines, protocols, policies, procedures, order sets, and information systems that support the delivery of care.Actively participates in performance measurement and process improvement activities, including but not exclusive to the following: Attends collaborative meetings within MB and MHS and participates or delegates subgroup activities to appropriate department members. Cooperates and supports all regulatory/compliance statutes as may be required. Proactively works with physicians and administration to develop, implement, and monitor cost saving initiatives. Cooperates and works collaboratively with Quality Personnel.Supports and models teaching to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups, and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.Engages in one outreach visit annually to support regional care and promote services.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited medical schoolLicensure to practice medicine in Washington State as a physicianBoard certification or similar accreditation in one of the following: Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Genetics, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology or another similar medical specialtyPrevious leadership experience preferredFormal leadership training preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $249,000.00 - $316,000.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
