Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking an additional Board Certified/Board Eligible physiatrist for full time faculty position with training and interest in Neurologic Rehabilitation – Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury or Stroke. Applicants are hired at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track) based on experience. All faculty are required to take an active role in our integrated residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Qualified candidates will have a special interest in medical management of rehabilitation needs for patients with neurologic injury including brain injury, spinal cord injury and/or stroke, with procedural skills in spasticity management.  Electrodiagnostic procedures are available. Fellowship training in Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury or Spasticity is preferred but not required. 

Candidates should possess excellent clinical skills and a strong interest in education and research. Clinical and basic science research is encouraged and supported.  Laboratory facilities are also available. All faculty are required to take an active role in our integrated residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. 

This position involves conducting PM&R specialty clinics at locations determined by the department. Responsibilities will also include managing the inpatient rehabilitation unit service and providing inpatient consultation services.

Additionally, this role will involve teaching and engaging in scholarly activities as well as collaboration with rehabilitation services and other departments is essential. Lecturing to PM&R residents and students, as well as attending Grand Rounds as scheduled, are also key duties. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the Chair as needed.
