Responsibilities

The Physician Engagement Specialist serves as the liaison between Informatics and the physicians to ensure successful integration of clinical systems and processes. Works with the applications & support team to develop and deploy best practices in physician utilization of clinical information systems. Trains physicians physician extenders and other clinical staff on software and IT processes. Assists in the development and implementation of current and future hospital clinical information systems working closely with the Clinical Informatics Director Project Managers Clinical Informatics and other stake holders.  The Physician Engagement Specialist collaborates with IT and other clinical or business departments across the organization to increase efficiencies and promote continuity of care through technology and workflow improvements.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

Provide support in all regional facilities as needed by the business

Travel a minimum of 10% to Dignity Health meetings go live support and special work group activities national meetings and conferences as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

Education of physicians and clinical staff

Effective serves as re source to providers, AHP's, extenders, physician office staff and staff re: use of clinical information system tools (Cerner, consult accelerator, etc.).Develops educational tools for physicians and other clinicians.Comfortable with 1 on 1 training or managing small groups on multiple computers if training an group setting.Anticipates and resolves routine issues that arise and provides input to Clinical Informatics staff to enhance system functionality to meet customer needs.Coordinates physician and other clinician service requests and incident resolutions through the Dignity Health IT Help Desk and Dignity Health change request process.Tracks, monitors, and enhances physician usage.Provides on-call support as neededProvides increased visibility and support during all downtimes, planned and unplanned.Promotes understanding and effective use of technology though high visibility unit rounding , user group support, development and execution of training materials and plans, one-on-one coaching of end-users, etc.


Assessment, Planning, Implementation

Demonstrates understands physician needs and practice patterns and workflow in hospitals.Collaborates with Clinical Informatics Director, Project Managers, Clinical Informatics and stake holders to optimize current clinical information system to meet the needs of the physicians.Serves in liaison role for all new physician-related applications.
Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years experience in acute healthcare setting required.

Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field or equivalent professional experience required.

Project Management and/or Project Team Leader experience prior experience training/educating others preferred.

Expertise in hospital clinical computer applications.

Demonstrated competency in Google Office and Microsoft products: Word Excel PowerPoint.

Basic Information Technology understanding.

Ability to work tactfully and effectively with physicians team members and the user community.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience in electronic medical record applications preferred.
