How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

Full time Physician Assistant opportunity with Carilion Clinic.  Established cardiology practice in Pearisburg, VA is seeking additional support due to growth. Day shift; M-F. 
Clinical Responsibilities include:

 Assess, diagnose, monitor and promote clinical status of each patient utilizing evidenced based practice and medical knowledge in outpatient setting.  Develops appropriate plan of care. Writes patient care orders, and prescribes therapy. Identifies significant changes in patient status using physical exam, lab values, diagnostic tests, and patient/family input. Collaborates with nursing, medicine, and other members of the healthcare team to regularly ensure quality patient care.

 

 

 


The Medical Specialty Physician Assistant has advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient’s health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.  
 

What We Require:


Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.

Experience: Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred

Licensure/Certification: Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required.  AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice.

Other: Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Maintains open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients and their family members.  Commitment to continued professional development.
