PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
SITE OF SERVICE:
Fayetteville VA Medical Center, 7300 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
· Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Physician Assistant Study.
· Accreditation: Degree must be from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARCPA).
· Licensure(s):
o Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Island.
o Possess a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
o Registration certificate National Provider Identifier (NPI).
· Certifications: Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
· Cardiac Certifications: Must have the following hands-on certification through the American Heart Association
o Basic Life Support (BLS)
· Experience: Examine, diagnose, and treat patients under the supervision of a physician.
· U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen.
· English Language Requirement: Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
· Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
DUTIES:
· Direct Patient Care:. Contractors shall be responsible for clinic appointments and follow-up of labs/imaging/procedures ordered during these appointments, interpretation, phone call consultation from hospitalists and intensivists on inpatients, and availability for case review with nurse practitioners on service.
· Scope of Care: Contract personnel shall be responsible for providing Family Practice and interventional Family Practice consultative services for: assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including comprehensive patient assessment, health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting; outpatient include both scheduled and unscheduled Veterans. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommend treatment and/or referral.
· Record/document health appraisal information, clinical assessments, treatment decisions, plan of care,
ongoing management and therapeutic outcomes, order medications, diagnostic test and referral consultations where needed for every patient encounter.
HOURS:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
This is NOT a telehealth position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
