Responsibilities Serve as a Physical Security Specialist developing policy and procedural guidance for the Physical Security program at United States Army Pacific's Weyand Command Center on Fort Shafter, HI. Plan execution of assigned projects adhering to the general guidance, policies and objectives of the overall security program. Act as an advisor and consultant to Deputy Chief of Staff and operating officials on all Physical Security matters. Interpret regulations and directives to meet the demands of security and organizational missions and practices. Perform annual Physical Security and follow-up surveys and inspections of activities. Responsible for issuance, documentation, and accountability for a variety of security and access badges. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience ensuring organization physical security regulations, concepts, principles, and procedures are applied, identifying security shortcomings and deficiencies, and providing guidance on security clearance procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Physical Security Problem Solving Vulnerabilities Assessment and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) three (3) years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
