Phlebotomist Lead, Full Time, Evening Shift, 7 on/7 off

Shifts are 10-hours scheduled from 3:00pm – 1:30am.This position requires every other weekend and every other holiday commitment. Weekends and holiday shifts include differential pay. This fast-paced hospital lead phlebotomist position is the perfect fit for someone who likes to work throughout all our hospital areas, has great phlebotomy skills, and is dependable. This role is a vital part of the healthcare team, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in provi great service to our patients. **Qualified candidates** will have at least two years of experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting. **Highly qualified candidates** will have experience in a leadership role in phlebotomy in a hospital setting. **Job Summary:** Under specific direction, supervises assignments within the phlebotomy section and acts as a resource to phlebotomists. Collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties. **Job Responsibilities and Requirements:** PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES + Schedules, plans, delegates and supervises assignments. Provides feedback during performance review process. + Ensures daily workflow is completed following established procedures. + Assists leadership on projects of medium to high complexity and size. + May orient new staff. + Assists phlebotomy staff with competency assessments. + Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines. + Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames. + May perform waived testing. + May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department. + Identifies patients using two identifiers. + Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. + Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION + High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience EXPERIENCE + Two years' experience in phlebotomy PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. + Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. + Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. + Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. + Frequent keyboard use/data entry. + Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping. + Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. + Rare climbing.
