Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description

Responsible for accurately obtaining blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures with minimum customer discomfort. Provides care to patients whose ages range from infant to geriatric. Ensures specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing. The role includes drawing blood, processing samples, collecting insurance information, scanning insurance cards, inputting/updating patient demographics, entering billing codes, spinning down specimens, sending out samples to other labs if needed, and utilizing software systems for these tasks.

ResponsibilitiesAccurately obtain blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures.Provide care to patients ranging from infants to geriatrics.Ensure specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory procedures for collection, handling, and processing.Draw blood and process samples.Collect insurance information and scan insurance cards.Input and update patient demographics, including contact information and addresses.Enter billing codes and spin down specimens.Send out samples to other labs if needed.Print shipping labels and box specimens.Utilize software systems for processing samples.Essential SkillsProficiency in venipuncture and phlebotomy.3 years of phlebotomy experience.Certified Phlebotomist with phlebotomy certification.Good customer service skills.Data entry experience.Experience in outpatient clinic/IOP settings preferred.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in outpatient settings including draws and processing.Work Environment

You will be working with two other phlebotomists onsite. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm with a one-hour lunch break. The job is located at Southside Medical Center – Main in SW, Atlanta, GA. You will see a wide range of patients, from pediatrics to geriatrics, with a focus on mostly adults. The position requires handling a high volume of approximately 30 sticks per day.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
