Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations.

ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperatures.Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow procedures necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimens.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential SkillsPhlebotomy certification1-2 years of phlebotomy experienceExperience with blood draws and specimen collectionProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteHigh School Diploma or GEDAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with pediatric and geriatric patientsValid phlebotomy certification for the state of employmentMinimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital settingWork Environment

This role will cover clinical sites in the Wichita area. The phlebotomist must have at least 1 or more years of experience drawing blood. Work hours can range from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with no holidays, and may require some weekend shifts. The position involves traveling to various locations within the Wichita area, with shift schedules sent out the week before. Candidates must be available to work from 7 AM to 7:30 PM, depending on the shift they are covering.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00
