**KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio** is Seattle’s NPR news station. **KUOW has an exciting opportunity for a** **_Temporary_** **,** **_Half-Time_** **relationship-based fundraiser. Serving in the role of** **Philanthropy Officer** **, you will build meaningful connections with a portfolio of generous supporters of KUOW.** As Philanthropy Officer, you will work as part of a team to identify, qualify/disqualify, cultivate, secure support from, and steward a portfolio of roughly 75+/- households through one-to-one engagement. Your work in this role will help ensure KUOW has the financial resources needed to deliver on our mission, to create and serve a more informed public.

A Philanthropy Officer at KUOW can expect to spend their time frontline fundraising, maintaining and enhancing KUOW’s philanthropy program, and assisting with other duties as assigned.
A successful Philanthropy Officer will be intrinsically motivated, charismatic, enjoy meeting new people, have strong communication skills, manage their time effectively, and find fulfilment in being a trusted advisor who helps match philanthropists’ interests to KUOW’s strategic priorities. This opportunity is ideal for those who enjoy creating authentic long-term relationships, within KUOW and across our communities, and are passionate about the creation and distribution of independent, fact-based news and information.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** **Frontline Fundraising (80%)**
• Administers relationship-based fundraising activities that support KUOW’s overall health and growth.
• Develops and implements activities to advance individuals in portfolio through all aspects of the gift cycle: initiating contact, qualifying/disqualifying, developing and implementing appropriate cultivation strategies, drafting proposals, moving potential donors in timely fashion to solicitation and closure, and providing stewardship.
• Works with colleagues and connectors to identify, research, qualify/disqualify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and communicate with supporters and potential supporters.
• Contributes to the planning and execution of targeted events for those within and beyond assigned portfolio.
• Supports efforts to identify, cultivate, close, and steward planned gifts.
• Records all activities, inbound and outbound, within donor database of record.
• Works with staff to produce materials that support discovery, qualification/disqualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities, including writing and sharing outreach, proposals, case statements, grant requests, solicitation letters, and thank yous.
• Actively supports Membership and Marketing campaigns, securing challenge and matching gift opportunities from within portfolio that may be leveraged to incentivize additional giving.
**Program Management (15%)**
• Develops and implements an annual donor engagement plan for portfolio of 75+/- households.
• Contributes to and supports the creation of team annual plans which align with KUOW’s strategic impact framework.
• Prepares reports and analysis to monitor productivity and health of portfolio.
• Adheres to KUOW’s methodology for relationship-based fundraising including qualification/disqualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Contributes to the continued enhancement of these practices.
• Attends meetings, conferences, and community events as team/KUOW representative.
• Assists with events, membership drives, general membership programs, and other duties as assigned.

**SUCCESS PROFILE** **Knowledge of:**
• The mission of public media journalism, and a deep commitment to it.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Manager software.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
• Duties may occasionally require evening and weekend work when necessary to meet critical deadlines.
• Ability to travel when necessary to meet donors and to attend station events.
• Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions.
• Position is suitable/eligible for Hybrid/Occasional Telework.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
• A bachelor's degree and three or more years of professional fundraising experience with demonstrated success in cultivating donor relationships and soliciting and securing major, ultimate and/or special gifts.
• Commitment to diversity and leadership with a racial equity and DEIABJ lens.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
