Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient)
Job Description
A pharmacy technician assists pharmacists in various support activities and procedures involved in dispensing medical prescriptions. They gather, input, and double-check prescription, refill, and patient information, as well as receive and organize incoming supplies. Additionally, they might prepare labels and routine prepacked orders, and potentially handle certain clerical tasks related to the department.
Responsibilities
+ Assist pharmacists in dispensing medical prescriptions
+ Gather, input, and double-check prescription, refill, and patient information
+ Receive and organize incoming supplies
+ Prepare labels and routine prepacked orders
+ Rotate through different stations of the pharmacy during shifts, such as register, filling, input, insurance/prior authorizations, and call center (mail order)
+ Support the OR, vaccine clinic, mail order, and other clinics within the hospital
+ Interact with a diverse patient population, including transplant, sickle cell, pediatrics, internal medicine, and employee medications
+ Dispense compounds (no compounding required)
+ Handle high volume of approximately 1200 scripts/day
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 1-2 years of pharmacy technician experience
+ PTCB highly preferred, must be active after 6 months of employment
+ SC State license with BOP
+ Inpatient experience
+ Good communication and great customer service skills
+ experience in customer service or similar fields (waitressing, etc.)
+ Hardworking and proactive
+ Ability to take initiative and remain productive during slow periods
+ Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Work Environment
The work environment is an outpatient pharmacy within a hospital, involving a team of 50 members, including pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians. It is a fast-paced setting where techs are on their feet all day and must be comfortable interacting with patients face-to-face. The pharmacy operates in a high-volume setting, managing approximately 1200 scripts per day. The software used includes Epic and Willow Ambulatory, with training provided on the job
Pay Rate: $20-25/hr
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
