The largest healthcare provider in the DC Metro & Maryland area is currently hiring Pharmacy Technicians to join their hospital in Washington, DC. The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr. This individual will assist the Pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications to patients, perform designated technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operations, and work under the supervision of the Licensed Pharmacist. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Prepare oral, topical, and parenteral medications for dispensing to patients.Select, label, and package appropriate pharmaceuticals using appropriate IV equipment.Fill medication carts and enter physician orders into the hospital computer system.Assist patients, nurses, physicians, and others with medication order requests.Monitor stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates for pharmacy areas.Replenish medications as needed and conduct monthly/periodic inspections of patient care/department areas.Fill and replace medications in automated medication dispensing machines and transport to appropriate nursing units.Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic techniques, including STATS, parenteral nutrition bags, and cytotoxic agents.Deliver and retrieve medications, including narcotics, and pharmacy supplies to/from patient care and satellite pharmacy areas.Compound products in bulk, or per individual order, and prepare private stock orders and individual unit-of-use packaging.Complete and maintain controlled substance inventory log/records.Effectively perform all pharmacy technician duties in all pharmacy locations including the OR pharmacy.Assist the pharmacy Technician in orienting new Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician students.Maintain clean and orderly workstations.Essential SkillsPharmacy technician certificationDC License (ACTIVE)Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificationHigh school diploma or GED1-2 years of experience in hospital, oncology, or retail pharmacyAdditional Skills & QualificationsCustomer serviceFulfillmentInventory managementCompounding experienceExperience in a healthcare settingPay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
