Overview This position is responsible for accurately replenishing and billing for patient medications in the medication carts and maintaining the distribution area within the allotted time frame. Responsible for performing the technical and clerical duties required for preparation of unit-dose medications for the patients of Shands at Vista/Shands Rehab Hospital. Coordinates pharmaceutical purchasing, receiving, distribution, and inventory control functions. Must successfully pass an AHCA Level 2 screening for this position Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:1. High School Diploma or equivalent required2. One of the following requirements must be met for minimum training or minimum experience in lieu of training:a. 6 months of Shands Pharmacy Technician Level 1 experience and completion of all required competencies.b. Completion of Shands Hospital Technician Training Program.c. Current enrollment in the Shands Hospital Pharmacy Technician Training Program, with the consent of the program directord. Completion of Military Hospital Core School and/or completion of Field Service Schoole. Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Programf. Completion of a college based Pharmacy Technician Training Programg. One year hospital pharmacy technician experienceh. One year retail pharmacy technician experiencei. One year pharmaceutical inventory function experience - including proper ordering from approved vendors to ensure adequate inventory based upon demand as well as maintenance of a pharmacy inventory. j. One year (24 credit hours) science based college level study, which must include successful completion of Algebra.k. One year experience transcribing/interpreting physician orders plus 12 credit hours of science based college level study, which must include successful completion of algebral .Active status as a certified pharmacy technician with PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).Job Knowledge:1. Must know how to operate typewriter, calculator, and computer workstation.2. Must demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations required to prepare medicationsMotor Vehicle Operator Designation:Employees in this position:Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purposeNOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
