**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Provides specialized support, oversight, and leadership in a specified area of pharmacy. Assists in training, troubleshooting, and process improvement. Ensures that all pharmacy technician functions are completed in alignment with state, federal and local regulations. Completes the majority of assigned duties in a specialized area, and may assigned to other pharmacy technician duties as needed to support the department.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Develops and maintain training materials specific to assigned specialty area. Coordinates and actively participates in training of new technicians. Ensures competency is maintained and develops competency programs where appropriate. Maintains documentation of completed training and competency. Provides feedback to staff when issues are identified or additional training/information is required to improve performance with tasks/processes.
+ Develops and maintains SOPs. Maintains workflow and identifies opportunities to reduce waste of resources and maximize efficiency. Actively seeks process improvement strategies and brings forward creative solutions. Implements new procedures in conjunction with supervisor and/or pharmacy management. Ensures technicians are following proper processes and procedures. Provides feedback and remediation if necessary. Provides data and metrics, as available, to management to monitor efficiency and efficacy of processes. Creates and maintains downtime procedures published online for all appropriate staff to access.
+ Troubleshoots common issues with software or hardware utilized. Handles the most complex issues and triages as necessary. Contacts and coordinates with vendor field technicians or support as appropriate. Notifies appropriate staff, supervisors and management if issue will impact operational workflow or if there are changes to the work process. Outside of their specialty area, troubleshoots issues with commonly used pharmacy technology, including eRecord, Pyxis, and CII Safe, providing support to the department when able. Assists with handling workflow issues in all areas of the department as an experienced technician.
+ Provides coverage to specialized area on a routine basis, assisting in daily work flow and during downtime. Acts as a role model for team members, following all standard operating procedures, policies and regulations. Maintains skills in other areas outside specialty area to allow for staffing flexibility and assigned duties as needed. Serves as a resource for other technicians, using expertise and experience to guide decision making.
+ Completes other assigned tasks appropriate for certified pharmacy technicians.

**MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
+ High School diploma required
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in related practice area preferred
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
+ Computer literacy and knowledge of pharmacy applications required
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues required
+ Ability to multi-task, manage many details with accuracy, work under pressure, and maintain professional attitude required
+ Be of good moral character, including application of the ICARE values required
**LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS**
+ Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program (Currently PTCB) upon hire required
+ Completion of ASHP accredited training program or equivalent experience as a pharmacy technician upon hire required
