+ Position Summary
+ Under the general supervision of the Callahan Cancer Center MID pharmacist and in conjunction with clinical staff at the Callahan Cancer Center the Pharm Tech is responsible for providing access to medications for patients by completing prior authorization requests (PAR), co-pay assistance programs, medication assistance programs, benefits investigation, coordinating refill renewal requests, managing PAR and prescription renewal dates, assisting patients without health insurance to connect with the case management department as applicable and facilitating daily prescription processing. Clinical and technical knowledge is utilized to operate web-based applications such as EPIC, work in Microsoft Word and Excel, and analyze and audit pharmacy usage reports.
+ Minimum Qualifications
+ Education
+ High school graduation or equivalent
+ Credentials
+ Must be at least 18 years old. Active registration, in good standing, with the Nebraska Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
+ Certified by a state or national certifying body which is approved by the board. If a pharmacy technician was registered with the state of Nebraska on January 1, 2016, he/she must be certified by January 1, 2017. If a pharmacy technician is registered after January 1, 2016, he/she has one year from the date of registration to become certified.
+ GPRMC Required/Preferred: Three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience or equivalent experience performing prior authorizations is preferred
+ Physical Demands
+ Frequent walking/standing—worker is on his/her feet the majority of the day to perform direct or indirect duties.
+ Must have the skills and ability to bend/stoop, lift/carry, push/pull, balance, must have handling and manual dexterity, and must be able to speak/hear/see to perform the job.
+ Must be able to lift/handle supplies weighing up to 50 pounds as well as perform reaching motions greater than shoulder height in removing items from shelves.
+ Essential Functions
+ Serve as a referral point and as the expert in submitting applications for patients to receive provided drug and co-pay assistance from pharmaceutical manufacturer assistance programs
+ Coordinate applications for assistance meeting drug-specific requirements for participation, including but not limited to forms, patient proof of income, relative clinical information, and physician or provider signature
+ Track each request to achieve timely approval and follow-up with appropriate individuals when not approved
+ Displays effective file management by maintaining documentation and detailed records of program participation, medications dispensed, and value of medications provided to patients via the Medication Assistance Program Completes consistent documentation in the electronic health record per program standard of practice
+ Completes consistent documentation in the electronic health record per program standard of practice
+ Effective analysis and use of management data and reports to establish standards to monitor and improve contract performance
+ Directly enroll eligible patients into manufacturer patient assistance and co-pay programs
+ Collaborate with other departments providing pharmacy related information to the nurse navigator, case workers, nurse triage and others as needed
+ Work cooperatively with other staff members and clinic staff and completes other daily tasks as needed
