PET Process Technician

Overview
This role ensures production equipment is in optimal operating condition and well-maintained. The PET Process Technician is responsible for correct machine settings, performs fault analysis for malfunctions or rejects, and contributes to continuous improvement within the PET production department.
Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise: Identify, report, and resolve technical issues on assigned production equipment (machines, molds, etc.). Demonstrate in-depth understanding of product quality criteria, production processes (material feeding and drying, injection molding, reheat stretch blow molding, and injection blow molding), and detailed knowledge of all assigned equipment. Perform mold installation. Interpret technical principles and drawings (assemblies, spare part identification, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems). Fault Analysis and Problem Solving: Independently conduct fault analysis and problem-solving for product quality and processing issues, mold issues, and machine malfunctions (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical). Recognize and report problems on equipment outside assigned responsibilities to the Maintenance and Production Managers. Maintenance: Perform maintenance tasks personally and coordinate with service suppliers as agreed upon by the Maintenance and Production Managers. Document maintenance activities according to plans. Identify and request necessary spares for assigned equipment, both generally and preventatively during maintenance checks. Machine Setting: Independently develop machine settings (with teamwork as needed). Set and verify correct machine settings for each run. Document settings and setting adjustments centrally. Safety Protocol (Bridged Safety Switch): Operate with a bridged safety switch only for fault finding and troubleshooting, and only while the technician is present at the machine. Understand and mitigate associated risks, ensuring personal and others’ safety (e.g., using appropriate PPE, controlling access to the unsafe area). Management and Communication: Liaise with Maintenance and Production Managers to align machine availability with major maintenance intervals. Provide an overview of required tasks and report to Maintenance and Production Managers. Provide completion dates and fulfill assigned tasks. Maintain positive relationships and communication with internal staff (QC, Production, etc.) and external parties (Toolroom, Technical Department, suppliers, etc.). Continuously seek improvement, conduct research, and provide suggestions. Budgeting and Ordering: Assist Maintenance and Production Managers in the ordering process (e.g., preparing documents, following up on orders). Assist with budget preparation for maintenance. Health and Safety: Ensure and enforce compliance with Health and Safety requirements. Maintain housekeeping standards. Work safely and report any safety hazards or issues. Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses. Quality: Apply company quality principles and standards. Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Food Safety System Certification (FSSC): Adhere to site-specific food safety standards. Apply site food safety principles and standards. Report any food safety hazards or issues. Comply with and maintain all GMPs related to the Food Safety Management System (FSMS). Self-Development, Growth, and Training: Conduct self-assessment, identify strengths and development areas, and take action to address weaknesses. Stay informed about innovations and technical improvements through contact with suppliers, operator manuals, and industry publications. Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation. Practice effective self-management. Develop leadership and interpersonal skills. Focus on product and service quality. General Responsibilities: Perform additional tasks as required. Ensure team members are aware of their responsibilities and information sources in case of absence. Understand and apply company principles and standards. Lead by example. Maintain flexibility and willingness to perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:
Education: Grade 12; Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Experience: 5 years of relevant setting experience. Skills and Competencies: Sound understanding of technical drawings and ability to install parts and related equipment. Fundamentals of fault finding and equipment testing, coupled with strong fault finding and problem-solving skills. Sound knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and safe working practices. Excellent communication skills. Ability to act decisively and urgently. High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
