Perinatal Patient Safety Nurse
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** This position will serve for oversight of maternal and neonatal safety and quality of care in line with the maternal level of care requirements **Position Summary:** The Perinatal Safety Nurse functions as a clinical expert, educator, consultant, researcher and program coordinator to collaborate with department leadership, nurses and physicians in the development and implementation of the department's perinatal safety program. This position demonstrates mastery in theoretical frameworks including change, systems, persuasion, influence and collaboration. The Perinatal Safety Nurse serves as a leader related to the continuous clinical and professional development of nursing staff and implementation of evidence based practice innovations, consistent with Magnet Hospitals for nursing. The Perinatal Safety Nurse will serve as a change agent promoting a culture of high team reliability and rapid response, ensuring the provision of care is standardized to current evidence based practices, in effort to promote quality of care and minimize risk of preventable patient harm for mothers and their newborns. This position will primarily support the Labor and delivery, Post partum, and Special Care Nurser. What the Patient Safety Nurse will need: + Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Master's preferred + Current RN License in Michigan + Current National Certification Center certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) and Inpatient Obstetrics certification required within 6 months of hire' + Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) membership required within 6 months of assuming position. + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. + Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) + A minimum of 3 years clinical experience in Labor and Delivery or Women’s Services. + Experience applying for formal education hours and certifications through National Certification Corporation preferred. **Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion** Trinity Health is one of the largest not-for-profit, Catholic healthcare systems in the nation.
