**Job Description** NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens formerly known as Queens Hospital Center (QHC), affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is seeking full time and sessional Physician Assistants to join our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Service in the Department of Psychiatry. Shifts are for days, nights and weekends. Prior experience in Psychiatry a plus but training available for candidates who require refresher in Psychiatry. QHC serves a multi-cultural population of adults, children and families. The Behavioral Health Program provides a full continuum of care including services in Ambulatory Adult and Child Mental Health programs, on-site school programs, Adult Partial Hospital Program, Chemical Dependency Program, Inpatient Units, Psychiatric Emergency Room, Mobile Crisis Unit, ACT teams and consultative services in other areas of the hospital center. QHC offers a collegial environment and competitive salary and benefits. **Qualifications** -Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies required. -Must have licensure issued by NYS. -Certification by NCCPA and BLS in some areas of patient care. DEA required. -Intermediate computer skills in Word. EPIC knowledge helpful. -Excellent written and oral communication -High level of analytical ability. **Responsibilities** Under the general supervision of an appropriately licensed and Board Certified Physician: 1. Performs complete patient histories and psychiatric examinations; orders laboratory tests and x-rays; performs and/or interprets laboratory and test results; and initiates treatment. Writes appropriately authorized prescriptions including controlled substances. May respond to initial requests for service-specific consultation as per the department scope of practice. 2. May initiate or participate in initial management and stabilization of patients or other medical emergencies. 3. Confers with attending physicians, nursing staff, etc., to ensure delivery of optimum quality of patient care. Confers regularly with Supervising Physician and/or Physician Assistant and co-workers to keep them apprised of clinical developments, patient concerns, etc. 4. Performs other duties pursuant to clinical responsibility, such as arranging follow-up for patients, Informs patients of necessary post-discharge instructions as required. Makes appropriate entries in patients charts. 5. Completes and documents participation in continuing medical education required of Physician Assistants in order to meet requirements for certification, including assigned lectures and conferences. 6. The salary range for the role is $70 - $70 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
