People and Culture Director

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring leader of People & Culture to join our premium brand, reporting directly to the Managing Director of Scania (Great Britain) Limited. 

 

In the position of People & Culture (P&C) Director, you will have overall responsibility for the people function, leading the P&C agenda to support the delivery of our Company objectives.  

 

This is a rewarding senior role for someone who can think strategically, with an operational mindset, bringing simple solutions to complex situations across our Milton Keynes Head Office and 40+ Retail branches.   As we embrace the change towards more sustainable transport solutions, you will maintain an inclusive, innovative, and collaborative approach through our leadership team and in conjunction with our managers.  

 

Interviews for this position will take place on 7th, 9th or 22nd October 2024.

 

In this role, you will: 


•    Define and continually develop the people plan for Scania (Great Britain) working collaboratively with the local Leadership team and Regional P&C team for Northern Europe, ensuring implementation and follow-up.
•    Develop the values, culture and capabilities needed to deliver our strategic plan to meet our current needs and future requirements. 
•    Create and safeguard a healthy, safe and sustainable work environment for all colleagues.
•    Lead our functional activities across Business Partnering, Reward, People Services & Resourcing, People Development, Health & Safety, and Internal Fleet.
•    Chair our ‘Scania Community’ forum focused on our corporate partnerships, volunteering and fundraising activities.   
•    Lead the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programme across the Company, in order to attract a diverse external talent pool as well as promoting internal talent.  
•    Chair the Pensions Governance Committee for our defined-contribution scheme, working with the other Governance Committee members, pension provider and key stakeholders.
•    Co-chair the P&C working group in conjunction with our Franchise Partners.  
•    Adopt global people processes to improve efficiency, quality and consistency.
•    Monitor and provide insights from our key performance indicators to assess our people performance, providing support for decision-making.
•    Ensure we operate within all relevant regulatory and legal frameworks, meeting the demands of our business environment.  
•    Develop and maintain effective working relationships between Scania (Great Britain) and companies within the Traton and VW Group to enable the respective P&C teams to develop a shared approach to colleague engagement and talent management. 

 

About you:


•    An ambassador for the Scania Core Values; Customer First, Respect, Team Spirit, Responsibility, Elimination of Waste (Quality), ensuring these values are embedded across the organisation.  
•    Proven experience within a senior HR role (or equivalent) with evidence of working at an executive/board level.
•    An authentic, inspiring, and visible leader of large teams.
•    Ability to demonstrate high levels of expertise across the People function, specifically experience dealing with complex employee relations issues.  
•    Excellent judgement with an ability to influence at all levels.
•    Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
•    Confidence to challenge and disrupt thinking as we strive to improve and update ways of working.
•    Ability to balance short-term decisions and long-term strategic vision.
•    Regular travel across the UK (and Europe as required).
•    Budget management and financial acumen.
•    Experience in the heavy truck industry is not an essential requirement. 
•    Fluent in English.
