Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking several Peer Academic Coaches (Undergraduate Students) - Boca Raton, FL. First-Generation Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) help students adjust to life at FAU. As a PAC, you support the academic transition of First-Generation College students to FAU through individualized academic coaching and by assisting in first-year course, such as SLS1410: FAU iSucceed. In support of the FAU iSucceed course, PACS provide student support for the instructor on record of the SLS1410 and are responsible for monitoring a section of 15 - 25 students and maintaining their grades and personalized recommendations regarding campus resources; by encouraging engagement on campus and in the community; by facilitating study, time management, and other academic success skills; and by modeling responsible and healthy decision-making. The position is for one academic year (summer, fall and spring semester), subject to performance and funding. Summary of Responsibilities: + Commitment to working during both the summer and fall semesters with the option of continuing in spring semester. + Actively participates in training/staff development sessions including: one day (approximately 8 hours) summer training retreat on Saturday, June 14, 2025 (the week prior to the start of the summer semester). Training will be virtual and consist of synchronous and asynchronous sessions. + Attends weekly team meetings on Mondays from 1-2pm* during the summer, fall, and spring semesters (1 hour per week). + Provides individual and group academic coaching to students by appointment and drop-in basis during scheduled office hours. + Serves as online Section Leader in SLS 1410: FAU iSucceed course during the 6 weeks of the summer Term 3 semester. + May be called to serve as Section Leader in SLS 1410: FAU iSucceed course during the first 8 weeks of the fall and spring semester, as needed. + Responds to student reflections and assignments in Canvas, delivering student outreach emails, facilitating a sense of community among the students (4-5 hours per week) + Promotes campus engagement and use of resources through bi-weekly outreach to your assigned cohort of students via phone and email contact. + Maintains the confidentiality of student records and respects the privacy of information disclosed by or about a student. + Supports other first-year student experience initiatives as requested. First Generation College Student. Possess strong verbal skills and a desire to help your peers transitioning to FAU. Possess strong organization and time management skills. Salary: $15.00 per hour.
