Job Details Job Posting: Pediatric Intensivist Good Samaritan University Hospital (West Islip, NY) Location: Good Samaritan University Hospital, West Islip, NY Position: Full-Time Pediatric Intensivist Department: Pediatrics – Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Job Summary: Good Samaritan University Hospital, a 537-bed teaching hospital and part of Catholic Health, is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pediatric Intensivist to join its growing Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This role involves providing critical care services for acutely ill pediatric patients, supervising pediatric residents, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care. This is an opportunity to work in a Level II Trauma Center with a 6-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, offering cutting-edge treatments, research participation, and teaching opportunities with academic appointment consideration. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including pediatric specialists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and residents. Supervise and train pediatric residents and medical students during their critical care rotations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and clinical education. Communicate effectively with families regarding patient care plans and treatment options. Assist in the development of protocols to enhance patient care and outcomes. Contribute to hospital-wide pediatric emergency response efforts. Qualifications & Requirements: Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Eligible for New York State Medical License. Experience in managing critically ill pediatric patients preferred. Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Passion for teaching and mentoring residents and medical students. Commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence.
