Our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Internship Program (PCICU) offers a comprehensive pathway to develop the specialized skills and knowledge required to transition into the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

At BayCare Health System, our PCICU provides expert, family-centered care to critically ill children in a supportive, child-friendly environment. We are seeking motivated, self-directed professionals who are eager to grow within a dynamic team and make a meaningful impact on young patients and their families.
In the PCICU internship, you will:
· Provide high-quality care for a group of patients using established clinical standards and the nursing process.
· Delegate appropriate patient care activities to other healthcare team members.
· Demonstrate professional accountability and commitment to continuous learning and development.
· Serve as a preceptor and charge nurse, as assigned.
PCICU Internship Program Details
Start Date: July 6, 2025
Program Length: 24 weeks
Shift: Rotations between day and night shifts, with a permanent night shift assignment upon completion
Learning Structure:
· Structured didactic course training
· One-on-one precepted clinical orientation
· Exposure to advanced pediatric critical care practices
· Commitment Requirement: Upon program completion, interns must fulfill a unit-specific hours-based commitment.
Licensure Requirement:
New Grad RNs must obtain RN licensure prior to the start date.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
· Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN)
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
· 1+ year of RN experience in acute care
· Pediatric nursing experience
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
