Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in the non-profit sector. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining payroll accuracy, ensuring compliance, and supporting various financial and accounting activities. Responsibilities: • Administer bi-weekly payroll process, guaranteeing accurate and prompt payment for all employees • Reconcile payroll transactions and ensure consistency across various records related to accounting, financial, payroll, retirement, and benefits • Adhere to tax regulations related to payroll and company policies, thereby maintaining compliance • Carry out payroll reconciliations, identifying and rectifying any discrepancies swiftly • Manage and verify payroll deductions which include benefits contributions and other withholdings • Provide support and quick resolution to employees' payroll inquiries • Participate in projects related to payroll aimed at enhancing processes and systems • Assist with other financial and accounting tasks as required. Requirements • At least 2 years of experience in a role similar to Payroll Specialist. • Proficiency in 401k - RRSP administration is required. • Demonstrable skills in managing benefit functions effectively. • Experience in processing payroll, preferably for a company with fewer than 100 employees. • Strong understanding of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. • Ability to reconcile payroll discrepancies efficiently and accurately. • Experience with payroll tax procedures and compliance. • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
